When you start a project, you don't stop and think about the end because you are so focused on the beginning and getting it off the ground and sharing it with the world. And, when you're in the middle of it, you are meeting and greeting, mingling and sharing and, well, doing all the things.
But sometimes, you have to stop. Today, that is what we are doing. Stopping.
The past five years have been amazing as we have watched #FaithPitch grow from a fledgling hashtag to a strong and vibrant faith-based community focused on connecting writers of Christian fiction and non-fiction to literary agents and publishing editors from all over the world. Since our launch in 2016, we have experienced the joys of creating a network of writers as well as the sting of critique. No event is without its highs and lows. However, through it all, it has been a privilege to walk beside each of you on your publishing journey and to cheer for you when you find a critique partner, blog a new article, or finish a manuscript as well as when you sign a publishing contract or release a new title.
However, due to the impact of the pandemic, shifts in the industry landscape, and personal challenges closer to home, we are making the difficult decision to stop hosting #FaithPitch. It takes quite a bit to host an online event, and after much consideration, we no longer feel we are able to pour into the event the time and attention it requires to continue scheduling and hosting two and three times a year.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that as believers there is a season for every moment and purpose God has ordained for our lives. The wonderful thing is that God provides for each and every one of us as we travel the road laid out in front of us, and with each turn, detour, or fork in the road, we have new opportunities to connect, learn, share, rejoice, mourn, worship, and pray.
Change is never easy and it can feel very momentous when it happens. We know that this change does not just impact us, but it impacts you, our #FaithPitch family. We will be praying for each of you as you continue on your publishing journey and we appreciate your prayers in return. We also encourage you to seek out new opportunities, to continue writing, querying, and networking, and to continue allowing the Lord to open doors for you and to walk with you as you tell your story for HIS glory.
We want to say a big thank you to all the agents and editors who took the time to participate in our events. And, we say THANK YOU to every writer that participated and supported #FaithPitch and each other. We look forward to reading your books and cheering your successes in the days ahead! Be blessed and know that God is good all the time.
